On 19th May our contractor AB Internet went into voluntary administration.
Despite this massive setback, we are still dedicated to finding a way to deliver next generation broadband to the area within our project scope. The situation is extremely complicated; State Aid rules, which govern grant funding of broadband projects, are very strictly applied and not very well understood, even by those administering them. In addition, grant funding brings with it strict rules regarding how contracts are procured. This means that we probably face a delay of around 12 months before we have a new contract in place.
We know how important the delivery of better broadband is to our communities and we will keep you updated as and when we learn more. If you have any queries, please contact Richard Thorne, GPA Project Manager
